About.

Since inception, Brett & Watson has prioritised client satisfaction through effective working relationships, timely delivery of analysis, and provision of quality service.

Brett & Watson was founded in Adelaide in 1993 by Laurie Brett and Bruce Watson. Geoff Keen, after 13 years service, joined Bruce as a co-director in 2018 following Laurie’s retirement. In 2021, Bruce Watson resigned as director but remains an actuary with Brett & Watson.

Since the inception of the company, Brett & Watson has attracted and retained a substantial client base, providing actuarial services to many clients in various jurisdictions around Australia. Our company is independent of investment managers, insurance brokers and other providers.

We provide actuarial services to a broad range of clients including, but not limited to, self-insurers of workers compensation, and Government and private sector organisations that manage insurance portfolios in the medical malpractice, mortgage, professional indemnity, public liability and property insurance classes.

We provide Appointed Actuary services to Friendly Societies and actuarial advice in respect of long service leave liability valuation and funding, defined benefit superannuation funds, self-managed superannuation funds (SMSF), retirement village discounted cash flow analysis, personal injury claims and calculation of life interests (see our ‘services’ page for more).

The majority of our actuaries have extensive experience in the above areas and long-term service with Brett & Watson. This results in our clients benefiting from diligent, professional actuarial services, ensuring continuity and a personal approach. We provide actuarial advice that we believe represents good value to our clients and aim to contribute to the success of our clients’ business operations.
